Javier Pérez is an artist from Guayaquil, Ecuador who creates art using simple everyday things and his imagination. His claim to fame came from posting his unique art on his Instagram page, where he was soon discovered by people around the world. Unfortunately, being from South America, all of his biographies and interviews are not in English, so I could not find very much of his personal information. To create his art, Pérez uses little knickknacks or simple items that one might encounter in everyday life. He attended many art festivities hoping to make it as a big artist when he was younger, but after years of not being a "good enough artist", he realized that he had been going about this all wrong. He didn't have to be some big fancy artist that created these elaborate drawings and paintings in order to make art that was loved by the world, he realized that he saw more beauty in the simple rather than the complex. He learned to see art wherever he went. This is why he inspires me so much, there's nothing to his art, yet there is so much. I want to be able to see what he sees when he walks down the street. I want to be able to see more in less. The simplicity of his art draws me in and makes me smile, and that's what I want out of life, to make people smile.
